Cavan Urban Fest 2021 was launched as a pilot edition with the goal of creating a structured and professional platform for street culture within a public festival format. At the time, the local urban scene lacked high-quality educational programs, transparent competition mechanics, stable technical infrastructure, and an open platform for emerging talents.
The concept of the first edition was built on combining education with real practice, allowing participants to learn from experienced professionals and immediately apply their skills through performances and competitions in front of a wider audience.
Day 1 — Education and Workshops
The first day was fully dedicated to education and skill development. The program included a jazz funk masterclass by Emin Useynov (NERO Dance Centre), a breakdance workshop led by B Boy Question and B Boy Z War (Caspian Flava Crew), hip-hop dance sessions by national champions ZICO FIRESTAR and RAYMAN, and a graffiti seminar conducted by AZY, covering street art styles, techniques, and historical evolution.
Day 2 — Competitions and Performances
The second day focused on competitive and performance formats. The program featured a breakdance battle, an All Styles dance championship, a graffiti competition, and live performances by local rap artists and beatboxers. This structure enabled participants to directly apply the knowledge and skills gained during the educational day.
Beyond the festival itself, Cavan Urban Fest 2021 introduced a cultural development initiative aimed at promoting street art and street dance across the liberated territories of Karabakh. The initiative focused on youth engagement, the introduction of modern creative disciplines, and the use of urban culture as a tool for cultural development and social inclusion.
For the first edition of Cavan Urban Fest, MVP acted as the full production and operations partner. The scope of work included technical production, logistics, and on-site operations. MVP was responsible for full audio system deployment using L-Acoustics PA, DJ setup with Pioneer PLX turntables and a DJM-9 mixer, installation of a 32-square-metre stage, coordination of dance competition judging, scheduling and management of workshop speakers, artist coordination for rap and beatbox performances, as well as on-site logistics, equipment management, and zone operations. MVP ensured stable technical quality and smooth operational execution across both festival days.
The project successfully launched a new street culture festival format, achieved high engagement from dancers, graffiti artists, and performers, formed an active youth community around urban culture, and established a strong operational foundation for future editions. Cavan Urban Fest 2021 became one of the most visible urban culture initiatives of the year and laid the groundwork for further development.
Cavan Urban Fest 2021 served as the foundation edition of the project, validating the concept, audience interest, and operational model. Its success enabled the scaling and expansion of the festival in 2022.
